“My good friend Christa was volunteering in Haiti at a literacy center when the earthquake happened. She is an avid rock climber and a Ph.D. student here at ASU. Her right leg was crushed and she was evacuated last night to the States. She is very lucky to be alive, but the doctors in Miami were not able to save her foot and ankle. We’re planning a fundraiser here at the local rock climbing gym in conjunction with her grad program in the next couple weeks to help raise money for her recovery/prosthetic/etc.”
